About natural deodorant... Antiperspirants contain aluminum salts, which actually clog pores to prevent sweating, & are considered potentially toxic in high doses. Deodorants, on the other hand, do not prevent sweating, but absorb moisture & odor. Body odor is caused by microbes that live on your skin, which increase in moist environments caused by sweat. Many choose natural deodorants to avoid the potentially unsafe ingredients found in antiperspirants, while recognizing that there may be a trade off in effectiveness. Immediately after discontinuing use of an antiperspirant, one might experience a temporary increase in body odor due to the clearing of the previously clogged pores. Many deodorants contain baking soda, which is effective at eliminating odor, but some find that it irritates the skin.
